The 3rd Torino Short Film Market
is cruising into the Venice Film Festival
(Hotel Excelsior, Italian Pavilion, 1 September 2018, at 4 p.m.)
Deadline for film and project submissions: 10 September
The third edition of the Torino Short Film Market (Torino 22-25 November 2018), organized by the Italian Short Film Center in collaboration with the National Museum of Cinema – Torino Film Festival will be presented on 1 September, 4 p.m., at the Venice Film Festival (Hotel Excelsior, Italian Pavilion). The speakers – Jacopo Chessa, Paolo Manera and Enrico Vannucci – will be outlining the main features of the Torino-based event, which enables those who have made or wish to make a short film to find a co-producer, distributor or buyer.
The deadline for submitting films and projects to the 2018 edition of the TSFM has been scheduled for 10 September. Last year’s edition hosted producers, filmmakers and distributors from 36 countries such as Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Japan, Spain and the United States, transforming the Torino Short Film Market over the span of just three years into Italy’s most important film-industry event dedicated to shorts.
“I view the TSFM as a success story that grows out of the crossover between an international flavor and an innovative spirit” – says Jacopo Chessa, Director of the Italian Short Film Center – “which is why we’re actively working towards putting the event on the international map.”
The open calls include:
Digita! – an opportunity for 10 selected digital content projects (VR and digital series) to give 7-minute pitches in English, plus one-on-ones and a roundtable featuring Italian and international production companies. In addition to the digital content pitches, there will be a section for VR created in collaboration with Proxima Milano. TSFM and Proxima Milano are currently working together to build a professional network across the globe (e.g. World VR Forum, Milano Film Festival) that aims to foster the production and dissemination of this new genre.
Distributors Meet Buyers – a pitch session geared towards distribution company representatives. The selected participants each make a 7-minute presentation of their distribution catalogue, and then take part in one-on-ones with the buyers.
Oltrecorto – a pitch session dedicated to projects for feature films or television series that are based on a previously completed short. Here too, the pitches are followed by one-on-ones.
Pitch Your Fest! – an innovative pitch session for organizers of festivals and retrospectives who plan on incorporating shorts in their programs.
TSFM Awards:
– Proxima Milano is offering a post-production award for a project from either the Digita! or Oltrecorto sections: a color correction session.
– France TV will purchase a short film selected from among those featured at the TSFM.
– Sub-Ti will provide subtitles in a European language for one of the short films in the TSFM programs.
– Sub-Ti Access will create an accessible version in Italian and English for one of the films featured at the TSFM.
